Their hunt takes them to many of the sights of New York, including the New York Public Library, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Penguin House in Central Park, Lincoln Center and The Empire State Building. Zoe collects tidbits for her ever-present scrapbook, as the magic and serendipity of this city are revealed in full page water color. The writing team of Claudia Mauner and Elisa Smalley grew out of a friendship that was forged at Vassar College. They have traveled the world together, sharing
over seas adventures that inspired their creative collaboration on the Zoe Sophia series. Claudia's daughter, the real Zoe Sophia, is a continuous source of inspiration in striped stockings. Claudia received her B.A. in drama from Vassar College, B.F.A from New York’s School of Visual Arts and her M.F.A. from the Yale School of Art. She works as a graphic designer and illustrator from her own studio, Artbox, in Pennsylvania. Elisa received her B.A. in French literature from Vassar College and an M.S.W. from N.Y.U. She now lives in Chappaqua, N.Y. with her husband and two sons.
