Top Doctor
Gives the Four Rules
 for Living with ADHD

“The idea was to be brief but not dumbed down,” quipped Dr. Martin Kutscher, one of the top doctors in Child Neurology practicing in the New York metropolitan area, about his new book, ADHD – Living without Brakes (February 2008, Jessica Kingsley Publishers, Hardcover $19.95; 978-1-84310-873-3). Dr. Kutscher’s goal was to distill everything the busy parent and professional needs to know about ADHD into one package.  “I wanted a book that would concisely re-enforce it all,” he said. “I made many recommendations for the truly excellent books that exist.  However, most times, the parent’s response at the next visit was, ‘No, Dr. Kutscher, I didn’t read those yet.  If I had time in my life to read those entire 300 page books you recommended, I wouldn’t have needed them in the first place!’  So I scoured through the top books, condensed the best insights of brilliant thinkers, added some of my own, and wrote this text.”

In ADHD – Living without Brakes, Dr. Kutscher gives four basic rules: #1 Keep It Positive, #2 Keep It Calm, #3 Keep It Organized, #4 Keep It Going.  These four rules will help both parents and professionals negotiate many of the difficulties associated with ADHD.  Realistic and optimistic, ADHD – Living without Brakes, is a concise source of information and advice.

Dr. Kutscher has proven experience explaining all the pertinent information a reader needs to understand complicated neuro-behavioral disorders in accessible language.  His previous book, Kids in the Syndrome Mix of ADHD, LD, Asperger’s, Tourette’s, Bipolar, and More! received high praise from reviewers.  In a starred review for Library Journal a reviewer wrote, “Parents and professionals alike will find the behavioral strategies, case vignettes, and practical tips particularly helpful.”  A reviewer from Kirkus Reports offered similar approval, “A sparkling, granite-strong steppingstone from which to launch further investigations into the conditions Kutscher covers, though, given its myriad hands-on recommendations, this guide may be an end in itself.”

Dr. Martin L. Kutscher is a pediatric neurologist with more than 20 years’ experience of diagnosing neuropsychiatric disorders.  He has been named one of the Best Doctors in Child Neurology by New York Magazine (2004 - present), Westchester Magazine (2002 – present), and the Castle Connolly Guide (1994 – present).  He is the author of Children with Seizures (2006, Jessica Kingsley Publishers), Kids in the Syndrome Mix of ADHD, LD, Asperger’s, Tourette’s, Bipolar, and More!
